Music Technology

Forty years of music.
Every instrument,
every format, every stage.

The background

A musician who also knows the technology. Not the other way around.

Rob has been a professional musician for four decades — touring Canada in multiple bands across multiple genres, playing rooms of 10 people and stages in front of 50,000. He has spent that entire time working with the instruments, the software, and the production rigs that other musicians are still trying to figure out.

That's the distinction that matters here. Rob doesn't consult on music technology because he learned how the gear works. He consults because he has spent forty years performing with it — and because he has spent just as long watching what happens when musicians and their tools aren't speaking the same language.

What Rob does

If you've ever felt like your gear is smarter than you, Rob will fix that.

Keyboards, synthesizers, digital pianos, DAWs, performance rigs — the tools are sophisticated and the manuals are long. Rob's job is to close the gap between the instrument and the musician playing it. Every engagement is tailored to how the client actually learns.

Keyboards & Synthesizers
Setup, programming, and hands-on instruction for keyboards, synthesizers, and digital pianos. Whether you're building a live performance rig or trying to understand what your instrument can actually do — this is where Rob starts.
DAW Setup & Training
Digital audio workstation consulting for performers and producers who need their software to work for them, not against them. From initial setup to deeper workflow — explained in terms that make sense for the way you work.
Performance Rig Configuration
Building and configuring live performance setups that work reliably when it counts. Sound design, patch organization, controller mapping, and the kind of troubleshooting that happens at the worst possible moment — handled in advance.

Studio & podcast production

Getting the sound right before anyone presses record.

Rob consults on audio and production setups for podcast environments and recording spaces — both remote home studios and dedicated in-studio configurations. The work covers microphone placement, audio chain setup, monitoring, and the integration of software and hardware that tends to cause the most friction.

This draws directly from decades of working with live sound and studio environments as a performer. The principles are the same. The room changes.

Musical direction

When the music needs someone in charge of the whole picture.

Rob is available for musical direction of events, private functions, and productions. This is a different kind of engagement — one that goes beyond playing or consulting, into the full creative and logistical management of a musical production from conception through performance.

He has served as musical director for private events and productions, handling arrangement, talent coordination, and on-the-night delivery. If you're planning something that needs someone to own the music end of it completely, that's a conversation worth having.

Let's talk music.

Whether it's a keyboard you can't figure out, a DAW that's fighting you, or a production that needs a steady hand — Rob's worked with it.
