Two worlds. One through-line.

Rob Cooper has spent his professional life moving between music and technology. Not because he couldn't settle on one, but because the most interesting work has always lived where the two meet.

Four decades of performing — touring Canada in multiple bands across multiple genres, playing crowds of 10 to 50,000 — ran alongside, and often intertwined with, more than two decades of IT work. His sweet spot in that career was Solutions Architecture: the discipline that sits between executive stakeholders, sales teams, and technical delivery, making sure all three are working toward the same outcome. That's a particular kind of skill. It doesn't stay in one industry.

Photography came later — a serious pursuit that has grown into a distinct body of work across portrait, aerial, concert, and fine art. Music technology consulting followed naturally from the performing years, and has become one of the most consistent threads in his current practice: helping musicians and performers actually understand the tools they've spent good money on.

Across all of it, clients say the same thing. Rob explains it in a way that makes sense. He figures out how each person works best, and he stays until the job is done. That's not a method. It's just how he operates.

Based in Ontario. Working across Canada. Client list kept small on purpose — because relationships matter more than throughput.

Music as foundation

Forty years on stage teaches you things that don't appear in any curriculum.

Rob's performing career isn't a footnote to the rest of his work. It's the foundation of it. The stage teaches you to read a room quickly, communicate across wildly different skill levels, and deliver when the clock is running and the stakes are real. Those aren't soft skills. They're the whole job.

It's why Rob can work with a first-time keyboard student and a seasoned session musician and reach both of them. It's why web clients describe the process as feeling easy. It's why he knows, before picking up a camera, what a piece of visual content actually needs to do. He learned to pay attention in front of a crowd. That habit followed him everywhere.

How it works

What to expect when you work with Rob.

A small, intentional client list
Rob limits the number of clients he works with at any one time. Not as a constraint — as a standard. Every engagement gets the attention it deserves.
Direct communication, always
You talk to Rob. Not a project manager, not a co-ordinator. The person doing the work is the person answering your questions.
Honest about scope
If something is outside what Rob can deliver, he'll say so. If the timing isn't right, he'll say that too. No overselling, no disappearing after the invoice.
